Wine of Origin Franschhoek

The La Chataigne Vineyard is one of South Africa’s oldest Sémillon blocks, planted in 1942.

La Chataigne Vineyard
Site:
Planted in alluvial soils situated on the banks of the Franschhoek River in the Franschhoek Valley.
Elevation:
185m ASL
Character:
Planted into soils of decomposed sandstone, these geriatric bush vines were around to see the early parts of World War II, and still stand firm today. They deliver an undeniable salty, stony character, along with impressive chalky texture on the palate.
