Damascene is about moments of revelation. It’s about seeking out memorable vineyards and sites that showcase the incredible diversity of character in the various terroirs around the Western Cape. Where a wine is an expression of more than one site, we have listed each site separately, as each vineyard brings its own highly distinctive elements to the final wine.
Wine of Origin Ceres Plateau
This vineyard is planted into the Bokkeveld shale soils of the Witzenberg mountain range, atop the Ceres Plateau. Situated in one of South Africa most elevated growing regions, this vineyard has an altitude of over 1000m.
Wine of Origin Franschhoek
The La Chataigne Vineyard is one of South Africa’s oldest Sémillon blocks, planted in 1942.
Wine of Origin Stellenbosch
A complex expression of three mountainous vineyards, featuring shale, greywacke and granite soils. From vines planted as early as 1972.

The fruit for our Cabernet Sauvignon comes from three impressively disparate Stellenbosch sites; Helderberg, Bottelary and Vlottenburg.
Wine of Origin Stellenbosch
Produced with fruit from two hilltop sites in the Bottelary hills, this bottling expresses all the concentration and nervous tension that comes from the sites’ extremely poor granitic soils.
Wine of Origin Cederberg
High altitude and rocky sandstone soils combine to deliver immense depth and structure in this component. Elements of rich black fruit, lavender, and freshly tilled earth are all abundant.
Wine of Origin Stellenbosch
Two hills and a valley make up the sites for our Stellenbosch Syrah. This perpetually cloud-covered vineyard is situated right at the top of its slope, nestled against a belt of fynbos.
Wine of Origin Swartland
Three vineyards at differing altitudes, planted into granite, schist, and Malmesbury shale, coalesce to express a vivid snapshot of Swartland Syrah.
