Three sites combine to produce our Swartland Syrah.
Wine of Origin Swartland
Langkloof Vineyard
Site: |
Bush vines are planted on a northwest-facing slope at the foot of the Paardeberg. |
Elevation: |
290m ASL |
Character: |
The free-draining granitic soils help to produce grapes that brings perfume, spice, and a purity of fruit to the wine. |
Riebeek West Mountains Vineyard
Site: |
Situated on the western side of the Riebeek Mountains, this vineyard lies on a southeast-facing slope. |
Elevation: |
340m ASL |
Character: |
The pure schist soils, combined with the low-yields from these vines, lend enormous concentration of fruit, along with an earthiness, structure, and depth. |
Leeuwenkuil Vineyard
Site: |
The lowest of the three sites; situated on a north-eastern slope. |
Elevation: |
170m ASL |
Character: |
The bush vines on this slope are low-yielding vines, planted into Malmesbury shale soils. The site, vines, and relatively dry climate deliver concentrated fruit with impressive structure on the palate. |
